![]() Psychoanalysis, South LondonPsychoanalytic psychotherapy provides a space in which to explore difficult thoughts and feelings — things it may be extremely hard to find an outlet for in the rest of your life. The emphasis is on listening to people rather than dishing out standardised advice or instructions. While some therapies set out to remove symptoms as quickly as possible, psychoanalysis aims to give you time to think more deeply about the causes of your unhappiness, and to build your own unique solutions. The advantage of this is the far greater understanding it can give you of yourself. Rather than promoting superficial 'improvements', analytic therapy can, at its best, be a genuinely life-changing experience. I am a member of the Centre for Freudian Analysis and Research (www.cfar.org.uk) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have been working as a therapist for the past nine years. I have worked in an NHS psychotherapy clinic, but am now in full-time private practice. Starting TherapyDo send me an email (via the link at the bottom of the page) if you're thinking about seeing a therapist but have questions you'd like to ask first. Or you can call on 07761552900. I'm happy to give one-off assessment sessions where we can meet and discuss any thoughts, hopes or concerns you might have. If it looks like other forms of treatment might suit you better, I will aim to refer you on to a relevant practitioner or organisation. On the other hand, if it seems that the more analytically-oriented work I can offer would be right for you, I currently have both evening and daytime appointments available. My consulting room is in Telegraph Hill, New Cross Gate, South London, SE14. ![]() |
